Kinect is up for demonstration, stressing the controller-free environment that Microsoft is working towards. The first thing that is presented is the way to sign into your gamer profile when you turn on your Xbox 360. With a simple wave of your hand, Kinect recognizes who you are and will sign you in automatically. The voice commands are easily recognized as well, with simply saying "Zune" will take you to the Zune Marketplace. While watching a movie, the controller-free emphasis becomes even more evident. With simply saying "Xbox Pause" or "Xbox Play" you can pause and restart the movie without the effort of fumbling around in the dark for a controller.
Video Kinect is now revealed, allowing for video chats with people either on Xbox Live or Windows Live Messenger. Along with these video chats, you will be able to watch videos along with your friends, including sports, tv, movies and music. The camera also tracks your body so that it will tilt and follow you around during a video chat, and probably during games and other activities as well.
These features alone are mind-blowing, even without seeing many of the games that will incorporate the technology. Does this alone warrant a purchase?
Video will follow when available.
